Stay Connected to Greater Victoria’s Theatre Scene

Victoria Theatre Listserv

Looking for a better way to stay in the loop about local theatre?

We’ve created a dedicated Listserv just for the Greater Victoria theatre community — a space where show announcements, auditions, workshops, and theatre-related events are shared without the noise of social media

Why a Listserv?

More and more folks are leaving Facebook and missing out on important theatre news. Our Listserv is a simple, email-based alternative that helps you stay informed, involved, and inspired — all in one place.

  • Get relevant updates directly to your inbox
  • Control how often you receive emails (daily, weekly, etc.)
  • Filter messages into folders for easy reading
  • Stay connected even if you’re off social media

What You’ll Find:

  • Audition calls
  • Show announcements
  • Workshops & classes
  • Theatre community events (like costume sales, fundraisers, and more)

It’s free to join, and only Victoria Theatre Collective members can post, so you won’t get spammed with unrelated content.

Ready to Join?

Before you post to the Listserv, make sure your message follows these guidelines:

The Victoria Theatre Collective Listserv is a curated space for theatre-related announcements relevant to the Greater Victoria region. All messages are moderated to ensure clarity, relevance, and usefulness to the community.

1. WHO

  • Clearly identify who is posting (your name or organization).

  • If relevant, include who the opportunity is for (e.g. actors, designers, volunteers, public).

  • Make sure you’re a registered member of the Listserv. Only members can post.

2. WHAT

  • Be specific about what you’re sharing:

    • Is it a show announcement, audition call, workshop, or theatre event?

  • Limit show announcements to one post per production.

  • Do not post unrelated content (e.g. non-theatre services, general sales, or third-party promotions).

3. WHERE

  • Include the location of the event or opportunity (e.g. theatre venue, rehearsal space, online platform).

  • If it’s online or digital, provide clear access details or a link.

4. WHEN

  • Add dates and times: when is the event, deadline, or opportunity happening?

  • If it’s a multi-day event, include the full schedule or link to it.

  • Avoid reposting the same announcement unless you’re providing new or updated information.

5. WHY

  • Explain why this matters to the theatre community.

  • Make it clear how it benefits potential participants, audiences, or collaborators.

  • Keep your message focused on theatre in the Greater Victoria region.

6. HOW

  • Tell people how to take action:

    • How can they sign up, audition, buy tickets, ask questions, or get involved?

    • Include contact information or a relevant link.

  • Do not include file attachments. Use links to share forms, posters, or additional info.

  • Images should be under 200 KB to ensure smooth email delivery.

Final Reminders

  • All posts are moderated. Make sure your message is clear, complete, and within guidelines.

  • Use appropriate subject line tags when possible (e.g. [AUDITION], [SHOW], [WORKSHOP], [EVENT]).

  • The Listserv is managed via Gaggle
